Berlin Attractions and Tourist Hot Spots

Berlin is the third most visited destination in the entire European Union (EU), as well as being the capital and most populous city of the Federal Republic of Germany.  Its central position in Europe along with the number and scope of its attractions for visitors have helped to make it such an international hot spot.  There are a number of different places of interest in the city of Berlin, including cultural attractions, places of beauty and great hotels in which to stay.  With such a large local population and so many visitors from all around Germany and the world, Berlin has developed a fantastic transportation network along with other well designed and developed infrastructure projects.  Berlin is recognised for its architecture, festivals, nightlife and its contemporary art and music scenes.  This diversity of attractions also brings a diversity in the ages and backgrounds of people visiting the city, helping to make Berlin a relevant and culturally diverse location and an amazing tourist destination.

The architecture of Berlin has always attracted visitors from all over the globe, with a number of both traditional and modern buildings.  The Fernsehturm (TV tower) is located at Alexanderplatz in Mitte and is the second highest building in the European Union at 368 meters.  While it may seem strange to have a TV tower as an attraction, with a 204 metre observation deck it certainly provides a stunning spectacle.  The East Side Gallery is architecture of sorts, an open air art exhibition of paintings that are directly on the last remaining remnants of the Berlin Wall.  The Brandenburg Gate is perhaps the most famous image of Berlin, an iconic landmark that is visited by a lot of people all throughout the year.  The Reichstag building is another famous Berlin attraction, the traditional home to the German parliament, it was renovated in the 1950s.  The Gendarmenmarkt, a neoclassical square in Berlin is another fantastic attraction;  bordered by two cathedrals it is a great example of classic Berlin architecture.

There are many music festivals and a great night life in Berlin that bring a lot of young and hip people to the city, helping to keep a diversity in Berlin that gives it such a great international reputation.  When people are visiting all of these attractions, they normally stay in one of the fine hotels in the city.  The hotel-residenz-berlin.de is one great example of the kinds of facilities and quality that Berlin hotels can provide.  German society is known for developing fantastic engineering and infrastructure networks, and the many transportation solutions and hotel designs in Berlin are a good example of how well the entire tourism infrastructure has been developed.
