QA Ecosystem
Each and every day you come into contact with an ecosystem
of some sort. It is all around us and encompasses everything we
touch. Many people do not realize the impact humanity has on
the Earth's ecosystems. It is a delicate balance that requires
diligence and education if the balance is to be maintained.
Unfortunately far too many individuals do not realize the
impact they have on nature's delicate ecosystem or even the
ecosystem in which they live. Do you realize the impact? There
are many different ecosystems in the world and it is important
to know how they affect our daily lives and how we have an
integral part in that ecosystem. In this audio program we will
cover the basics of ecosystems and even delve into how they are
classified. Hopefully this article will cover any questions you
may have about the environments around you.
What is an ecosystem?
An ecosystem is simple. It is all the flora and fauna in an
area working together. It may be the squirrel collecting nuts
from the tree in a woodland ecosystem. It may be the fish
taking refuge in a coral reef in a marine ecosystem. The point
is that there are thousands and thousands of ecosystems all
around us on a daily basis. In fact we each interact with each
other in an ecosystem every time we come into contact with the
outside world. You are interacting with an ecosystem when you
walk through the park or go swimming in a nearby lake.
How are ecosystems protected under the law?
Without the ecosystems that surround us on a daily basis,
life as we know it would change irreversibly forever. The
change would not be a good thing. Many of our daily necessities
come from our surrounding ecosystems. That is why many legal
groups are taking action to help protect ecosystems and give
them a voice in the law. One town in Pennsylvania recently
passed legislation that would give any resident the right to
file a lawsuit on behalf of the ecosystem.
What is a biome?
A biome is another name for an ecosystem. It is a group of
plants, animals and soil organisms working together in one
contained area. It may be an urban biome or a biome in the
outback of Australia. Even our homes are considered to be a
biome within a larger biome of area. You have to remember that
it also encompasses any non-living entity that is found within
the area.
Do ecosystems change?
Ecosystems change on a daily basis. Most researchers and
scientists would say that it is a result of mankind's footprint
in all of the world's ecosystems. Some of these changes are for
the good and some are catastrophic such as the extinction of an
animal species or floral species. Many ecosystems cannot adapt
to change very well and as a result will become extinct. Global
warming is contributing too many of the Earth's ecosystems
declining though there is no concrete evidence that it is in
fact a direct result of humankind causing global warming. At
this point it is suspected that there is such a thing as global
warming and it is a theory that many of the Earth's ecosystems
are suffering.
