Investment Funds
for Forestry Projects
Her name was Pam Taylor; she was
retired from Lloyd Fonds. She had worked there for many years
in the shipping funds (Schiffsfonds) department. Pam had
learned so much about the ins and outs of shipping funds
that she made the decision years ago to take out some
investment funds on her own.
Pam went back home in July to see her
family in Kansas. She had been looking forward to this trip for
some time now. Not only was she excited to see her family, she
was just as excited to see Kansas. She loved the big beautiful
farms with hay fields for miles and all the cattle and horses
all around. The trees were what she missed the most. Living in
Nevada most of the time since retiring from Lloyd Fonds, she did not get to enjoy
many trees anymore.
She had everything all planned. She was going to surprise her
family by telling them that she was moving back to Kansas.
Then, she would spend the rest of her visit finding a place to
live. She wanted a quaint little house; she had lost her
husband Bill to a heart attack some years back and was on her
own. She wanted a yard with lots of big beautiful trees all
over. She wanted trees with birds' nests all in the branches.
She was going to hang a hammock in the back yard for the
grandkids to enjoy. She wanted two big trees right out front so
she and her friends could sit in the shade when they came by
for tea and cake. She daydreamed about it on the plane ride all
of the way from Las Vegas to Kansas.
She hailed a cab from the airport terminal and gave the driver
instructions to take her to her son's house that he shared with
his wife at three beautiful little girls. Her son, Jeff, lived
about twenty miles from the airport. Pam was looking forward to
gazing upon all of the lovely scenery as they made their way to
Jeff's house.
Pam was shocked and appalled at what she had seen between the
airport and Jeff's house. Four major tornados had ravaged the
land in the last couple of years. There were no trees left.
Just broken sticks here and there, it was horrible. The cab
driver told Pam that the city knew it was a terrible eyesore,
but could not afford the major forestry project that it would
take to make it the land as beautiful as it once was. The way
Pam remembered it, the way she wanted it to be again.
As soon as Pam made it to Jeff's house and said her hellos to
the girls, she scolded Jeff for not letting her know the
tornadoes had done so much damage to the beautiful land that
she loved so dearly. Then, she got on the phone. She called up
her old friend that still worked at Lloyd Fond and arranged to
cash in on her investment funds. Pam was going to use all of
her money to fund the major forestry project that would make
her city beautiful again.
